You're interested in OpenStreetMap, but haven't actually worked with it. You've heard people talk about it, but want to find out what all the fuss is about. You've signed up to openstreetmap.org, hit that edit button, and you're not sure whether you're doing the right thing. Sound familiar? Then this workshop is for you. 

OpenStreetMap's State of the Map USA conference is in Portland October 13-14 and wants to introduce the world's free community map to everyone who's interested. If that's you, come out for this free workshop and to meet people in the OpenStreetMap community. 

The workshop will:

• Showcase great examples of how OpenStreetMap is being used and explain why it was selected as the map choice.
• Walk through how to survey using GPS devices and field papers and add that data to OpenStreetMap
• Explain how to trace satellite imagery
• Discuss how to get in touch with other mappers and the great OSM community
• Expose you to the many resources for getting your questions answered.  

Expect to walk away knowing how to contribute to and use OpenStreetMap data, and come ready to ask a lot of questions. Bring your laptop!

This workshop starts promptly at 10:45 am, and we ask that you arrive no later than 10:30 to get set up. Join us at 9:00 am to hear the first two keynotes of the OpenStreetMap conference and to enjoy coffee and conversations with people in the community. Space is limited, so sign up now!
